149 - Saint Seiya - Gemini Saga/Virgo Shaka - "Nostalgia."

Title: Nostalgia.
Fandom: Saint Seiya.
Characters: Gemini Saga, Virgo Shaka.
Rating: PG-13.
Genre: Mild Angst.
Notes: Fourth in my thirty themes for saintseiyayaoi. Theme 4, The sound of the waves.

Nostalgia.

Virgo Shaka remembers the curious words his master and mentor spoke to him that long, long night before he gave his spirit to the world and finally ceased to be. They weren’t terribly prophetic or overly complicated, but the simple fact they had been spoken had been enough to make the young Virgo Saint like an inconsiderately dull individual.

Gods will rule the sky, the sea, the earth and the underworld. Gods will remain immovable in their struggles; will continue to fight well when the world is gone. Gods will not be eroded by time and hardships and pain… but Gods will never laugh and will never cry, will never know the tenderness of a lover and the despair of betrayals. Because only humans can attempt to climb to their pedestal, but only them can come down when they see fit.

Shaka sits on the jaded rocks, like a common man and not a holy man, staring at the swinging waves silently, allowing their soothing chorus to reach his ears and attempt to heal the broken peace within him.

Cape Sunion is beautiful, regardless of the bloodstains that cling to it, and Shaka is relieved, at least, to be still able to admire beauty. Conflict within is the hardest conflict to confront, because its very nature is to hide and be hidden. The Man closest to God stares at the sea, clear, blue and perfect, peaceful, and barely spares a thought to the brave young warriors that fought so bravely to restore it.

He’s been restless, recently, not only about the imminent darkness that looms closer to them, but the impertinent thorn in his soul that resists to be removed. He dreads and expects to see the Gemini Saint soon, but he’s not sure he’s ready to come down from his own pedestal yet.

He’s not sure he’s strong enough to endure the trials of humanity as stoically as he’s endured being a God, so these melancholic musings near the clear waters and the cape that holds a piece of their heartbreaking history are the only things he has.

He hopes it’s enough to satiate the starving humanity within, because he doesn’t know what else will help.
